I spent the past weekend in Virginia with the lovely host and hostess: Mary Beth and Kevin Jobe. The weather was gorgeous and I was able to enjoy fresh, country air along with beautiful landscapes. An afternoon in Fredericksburg was a pleasant surprise thanks to the large number of antique shops. I recommend to anyone traveling through the area to make a point of an afternoon stroll through the historic district.
Sunday afternoon included a visit to Manassas Battlefield Park. This was the site of the first major battle in the American Civil War. It was a lovely day for a walk through the fields. There were a few historical buildings to visit as well as a great diorama (of sorts) at the visitor center that provided a great overview of the first battle fought on this land; it helped to envision the movement and action of the troops as we hiked up and down the hilly fields.
